Tamara Peacock
President/Project Architect
In the architectural profession since 1976, Tamara Peacock was the 2nd female licensed architect in Broward County, making Peacock Architects the largest 100% women-owned firm in the state for more than 10 years.
Tamara got her start in landscape architecture but set her sights higher when the dean of UF told her she should pursue her Bachelor’s in Architecture. After graduating, she accepted a job at a Chicago-based firm working out of Fort Lauderdale that she ended up absorbing, thus Peackcock Architects was born. This happened twice more, which brought her her second location in North Carolina. She was the first female architect in Hendersonville so much so that her nickname in the town was “The Woman Architect.”
With over 40 years in the industry, she’s mastered every type of project. On the Institutional front, she’s been working with the Broward and Palm Beach County School District for the last 30 years completing projects like Delray Full Service, Miramar Elementary, and multiple new projects for Broward Health. On the private side, Tamara did Mar-A-Lago for Donald Trump and became well-known for that project, winning historic preservation awards. This led to other high-profile preservation projects, such as the Belleview Biltmore, the Great Southern Hotel, as well as work in North Carolina, including renovations to a historic courthouse and The Cedars Hotel & Spa. More recently, she’s enjoyed her work in the luxury home market, where’s she's designed a French chateau style house and a high-rise in Flagler Village.
Tamara has a passion for historic preservation and loves the mental complexity of large industrial building projects. But one of her favorite parts of the job is teaching other people. “Working with young talent and seeing the lightbulb go off is really fulfilling to me. There’s a sweet spot for every architect and I love working with them to find their calling in this field.”
Tamara received her BA Architecture from the University of Florida in 1979, where she also received her Masters in Architecture in 1981. She has held an active Architectural Registration in the State of Florida since 1987 (AA 0002526) and is CPTED Certified.
